That’s what I kept saying all through the book ‘wow’… This handbook is filled with words of wisdom. Both these characters get talking, and the true master Shimoda, hands Richard a Handbook Of A Messiah. Shimoda takes to flying a plane and performing miracles in the air because he believes that people are more interested in “illusions” of life, rather than understanding the deeper meaning and the message behind them. is an enlightened soul, while Richard is a lesser human who chances upon Shimoda. Donald Shimoda can be considered as your present-day Buddha …. The book has two main characters, Donald Shimoda and Richard, both pilots who entertain people by taking them on joyous flights. The book is slightly slow paced and the story takes time to unfold, but it keeps you interested. This book Illusions is about enlightenment, about search for a master who can tell us the real meaning of life. Earlier I had enjoyed his Jonathan Livingston Seagull which was about breaking away from conventions, taking the path less trodden and achieving the impossible. This is not the first Richard Bach book I have read. I have just finished reading a book called Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach. 6/29/2023 0 Comments The stoic challenge william irvineThe latter doctrine advises you to grimly take whatever life throws at you without showing any emotions. I like to distinguish between what I call uppercase-S Stoicism and lowercase-s stoicism. – Fortunately, there are fewer misunderstandings than there used to be. What are the most common misunderstandings regarding Stoicism? Because they were written with a general audience in mind, these books are a good starting point for anyone who wants to learn more about Stoicism and experiment with Stoic techniques for dealing with the stresses of daily life. There is a lot of flying in this book - dreams about flying and actual flying. On the positive side, the friends Ida Mae makes in WASP training are fantastic and provide support for Ida Mae even if they don't know her secret for sure. Her fair skin allows her to pass for white, but the stress of this combined with the training proves difficult. Not only was the WASP a highly selective group that underwent rigorous training, but Ida Mae faces even more difficulty because she knows she can't sign up as a black woman. The WASP pilots transferred planes and equipment from assembly plants to military bases and often trailed targets in the air for anti-aircraft artillery practice. She learns about the Women Airforce Service Pilots - a civilian organization that served to fly airplanes under the military with the goal of freeing up qualified men to serve in combat. It is not surprising that Ida Mae feels caught between her family obligations and her love of flying. Her father who taught her to fly a small crop duster has passed away, and her brother has signed up to serve in World War II. Ida Mae Jones is a young African-American woman living with her family in Louisiana. Their travels across the desert wasteland bring them to a violent city in which Saba is forced to fight for her life in an arena. When 18-year-old Saba's father is killed and her twin brother, Lugh, is kidnapped, she sets out to rescue him, along with their younger sister, Emmi, and Saba's intelligent raven, Nero. Young's powerful debut, first in the Dustlands series, is elevated above its now familiar postapocalyptic setting by an intriguing prose style and strong narrative voice that show a distinct Cormac McCarthy vibe. 6/28/2023 0 Comments Interstellar cinderella bookAuthor’s agent: Erin Murphy, Erin Murphy Literary Agency. Cinderella and the prince bond after she repairs his ship (their budding friendship isn’t just interplanetary but interracial, too), and when he asks her to be his bride, “She thought this over carefully./ Her family watched in panic./ ‘I’m far too young for marriage,/ but I’ll be your chief mechanic!’ ” It’s another strong showing from Underwood, and a notable debut for Hunt. Yes, her fairy godrobot (who resembles a stylish update of Rosie from The Jetsons) hooks her up with an atomic blue space suit, but it’s up to Cinderella to fix the ship that she pilots to the Royal Space Parade. Writing in playful, clever rhymes, Underwood ( The Quiet Book) gives this Cinderella welcome agency and independence. With her wide eyes, pink hair, and work goggles, Hunt’s Cinderella looks like she’s stepped out of a contemporary indie webcomic, and her extraterrestrial world hints at mid-century illustration influences. Like Cinder for the picture-book crowd, this futuristic take on Cinderella recasts the heroine as a skilled mechanic, one who studies rocket-ship repair late into the night. 6/28/2023 0 Comments Ironweed novelThe novels make use of incidents from the citys history as well as the supernatural.
